President Maduro added that the handover was a “direct request” from his government to the United States, and that his fellow countrymen were “rescued.”

The United States sent 177 deported Venezuelan immigrants to Venezuela from Washington-controlled military base in Guantanamo.

The US immigration and customs enforcement confirmed that Venezuelans had been transported to Honduras on Thursday.

Venezuelan authorities acquired custody of the exile from Soto Kano, a joint US-Honduras airbase before flying to Caracas on flagship airline Combiassa flights.

Venezuela’s Home Minister Diosdado Cabello was at the airport when the plane landed and boarded the aircraft to welcome its arrival.

President Nicolas Maduro added that the handover was a result of “direct demands” from his government to the United States, and that his fellow countrymen had been “rescued.”

A spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security said that among those released, 126 individuals who have been criminally charged or convicted, of which 80 have partnered with Venezuelan criminal organization Tren de Aragua. It is being done. The remaining 51 had no criminal history.

Cabello said in a statement aired that all 177 people will undergo health checks before the pending criminal charges continue in Venezuelan courts.

After this transfer on Thursday, no immigrant detainees remained at the naval base, a spokesman said.

However, the Associated Press cited the advocacy group tracking foreign flights, citing eyewitness Thomas Cartwright at the border, and more migrant relocation flights arrived in Guantanamo Bay on Thursday. He said.

According to Cartwright, the flights were born from Texas and Louisiana.

The deportation comes after the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit seeking access to dozens of immigrants held in Guantanamo Bay. This is a facility filled with allegations of fraud and abuse following the September 11, 2001 attack, claiming that the lawyers were denied.

In a court filing Thursday, US authorities say Venezuela has historically resisted accepting citizens’ repatriation, but changed its stance after “high-level political debate and investment in critical resources.” Ta.

Last week, Venezuela sent two planes to the US, bringing 190 Venezuelan deporters home. This shows improved relations between the two countries after President Maduro accused him of stealing the election.
