European leaders will meet in London to strengthen Ukraine and address security concerns amid policy changes under Trump.

Over a dozen European leaders will be gathering in London for discussion aimed at strengthening security cooperation and reaffirming support for Ukraine.

Sunday’s meeting continues with a dramatic rift at the White House on Friday between Ukrainian President Voldymi Zelenkiy and host Donald Trump.

European leaders will prioritize military support and increasing economic pressure on Russia to strengthen Ukraine’s position. The discussion also focuses on securing a lasting peace agreement, Ukraine blocks future Russian attacks and planning robust security assurances.

The summit features representatives from France, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Torquier, NATO and the European Union.

Coming before the summit in Brussels, scheduled to be held on Thursday, the European Commission will announce a European defence package, including Ukraine.

The package aims to strengthen Ukraine’s defenses and strengthen regional security, highlighting the need for a strong and lasting transaction to protect Kiev’s sovereignty. Ukraine’s European allies are trying to address growing concern over Trump’s approach to negotiations with Russia, where many fears could undermine Kiev’s position.

Zelensky arrived in London on Saturday and was greeted by British Prime Minister Kiel’s priority. The two leaders shared a visible embrace and announced a $28.4 billion loan agreement to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, funded by profits from frozen Russian assets.

Tensions with Washington

Zelensky’s visit to London follows a tense encounter at the White House, where Trump and Vice President JD Vance accused him of criticizing him for rejecting the proposed ceasefire conditions. Trump also warned that Zelensky’s stance could risk expanding the conflict into Earth War.

Despite the intense exchange, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine remains open to dialogue with the US.

“Despite the harsh debate, we remain strategic partners,” he wrote to X after the meeting. “However, integrity and directness are essential to understanding our shared goals.”

European concerns

Trump’s recent overture on Russian President Vladimir Putin has wary of Kiev and his European allies. The US president has established himself as a mediator between Putin and Zelensky, bystanders on traditional diplomatic channels and prioritizes reconciliation with Moscow.

Last week, Trump claimed that “significant progress has been made” towards a peace deal in Ukraine, but details remain unclear.

But when the Ukrainian leader left the White House, Trump took him to social media and said that Zelensky “will not be ready for peace if America is involved.”

Following the SPAT, European leaders quickly provided support to the troubled Ukrainian leaders.

Friedrich Merz, who is expected to be Germany’s next prime minister, addressed Zelensky at X, saying: Don’t let invaders and victims confuse in this horrific war. ”

German Foreign Minister Analena Bearbock accused Trump of “overturning the roles of victims and invaders” in the conflict, warning that his actions marked the beginning of the “notorious New Age.”

French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters that Russia was the “invaders” of the Ukrainian war, and that Ukrainians were “aggressive people.”

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tass wrote to X: “Ukrainian friends, you are not alone.”
