Klarna CEO doubts that other companies will replace Salesforce with AI

The IPO-bound Fintech Kralna founder and CEO used X to explain once again why his company dumped Salesforce’s flagship CRM product in favor of homemade AI systems about a year ago.

However, this time Sebastian Siemiatkovsky emphasized that he doesn’t think others will or should follow his lead. “I don’t think it’s the end of Salesforce. I might be against it,” he wrote.

News that Klarna has developed its own in-house AI system based on Openai’s ChatGPT allows us to remove Salesforce CRM contracts. This came after Siemiatkowski talked about it during the day for investors. The project was replaced by 700 full-time contract employees and a savings of around $40 million a year.

Marc Benioff, founder and CEO of Salesforce, expressed his skepticism about Klarna managing customer data and meeting compliance needs. “All of a sudden, @Benioff was asked on stage why Klarna left Salesforce. I was very embarrassed,” wrote Siemiatkovsky.

Therefore, with news spreading that the news can be released next month, this means that Klarna’s confidential financial information should be released soon. Siemiatkowski makes clear.

As a highly regulated industry fintech, he doesn’t want the public to think that Klarna is uploading all of his customers’ data to Openai. Instead, he said on Monday that Klarna will retrieve data stored in many SaaS systems, including Salesforce, and integrate it into its own internally developed technology stack.

Siemiatkowski did not elaborate exactly where Klarna moved all this data, but it named Swedish company Neo4J and its graph database as the product Klarna uses.

“No, I didn’t replace SaaS with LLM. There are limitations to storing CRM data in LLM. But I developed an internal tech stack to get started with putting together data=knowledge using Neo4J and others,” he writes.

“We have allowed internal AI to use this knowledge. With the help of @cursor_ai, we realized that we can quickly deploy our new interface and interactions with it,” he explained.

This is the latest iteration of all the ancient discussions about enterprise software. Building it and buying it.

Siemiatkowski doesn’t believe that most companies are choosing to build their own next-generation AI-centric software.

However, he still believes the SaaS industry is heading towards large-scale integration. “Do all companies do what Klarna does? I doubt that. On the contrary, much more likely, SaaS will consolidate the market less and they will see what we are doing and deliver to others,” he wrote.
