Olivia Rodrigo will make a surprise appearance at Primavera Sound.
On Saturday (June 6), the 23-year-old pop star revealed on social media that she would be performing an unreleased set at a festival in Barcelona later that night.
“Surprise!!!,” Rodrigo captioned a photo he shared to his Instagram Stories, which showed the singer giving a thumbs up in the crowd at the festival. “See you tonight, primavera_sound… I’m looking forward to it.”
The “Vampire” hitmaker is scheduled to take to the Occident Stage at 10:25 p.m. local time.
The festival posted a photo of Rodrigo on its Instagram saying, “I poured my guts out.”
The surprise performance comes less than a week until the June 12 release of Rodrigo’s third studio album, You She’m Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. The project’s first two singles, “Drop Dead” and “The Cure”, debuted at No. 1 and No. 5, respectively, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Rodrigo last visited Spain in early May for the Billions Club Live Show in Barcelona. The one-night-only event drew 1,500 of the singer’s most ardent Spanish fans to the historic outdoor venue Teatre Grecque. During the intimate performance, Rodrigo sang eight of Billions Club’s nine songs, as well as fan favorites from his first two albums and OR3’s lead single “Drop Dead.” Billions Club Live with Olivia Rodrigo: A concert film premiered on Spotify on May 27th.
The singer also announced in late April that she would be going on tour in support of “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.” The 65-date Unraveled tour kicks off September 25th at People’s Bank Arena in Hartford, Conn., and includes multiple nights of arena dates in North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom.
The global trek will conclude with a two-night performance at Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi on May 1st and 2nd.
Meanwhile, Doja Cat and Massive Attack’s headline set at Primavera Sound on Thursday (June 4) was canceled due to extreme weather in Barcelona.
Thursday was the first day of the three-day festival, but difficult conditions forced organizers to cancel the program early. After Geese performed in a chaotic rainstorm, sets by Alex G, Mac DeMarco, and Bert Gal were also canceled, along with the night’s headline performance.
Primavera Sound reopened as scheduled on the second day, with performances by The Cure, Skrillex, Pink Pantherless, Ethel Kane, Role Models, My Bloody Valentine and more.
