Live at Primavera Sound 2026, Olivia Rodrigo previewed her song “What’s Wrong With me” with The Cure’s Robert Smith, which appears on the second act of her long-awaited new album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. The unveiling of their duet came just hours after Rodrigo made the surprise announcement that he would be performing live at a music festival in Barcelona, Spain.

At track 10, the song falls into the “you seem pretty sad” side of the story for her upcoming LP.

“I’m absolutely ecstatic,” Rodrigo said of his singing partner Smith, as he introduced “What’s Wrong With Me” to the crowd on the Occident Stage at Parc del Forum. By the end of Rodrigo’s duet with the Cure frontman – moments after hugging his musical hero and friend (and collaborator) – the pop star admitted: “I’m almost crying…I can’t believe it happened in real life and not just in my imagination.”

Her “spiral” is reflected in the lyrics of “What’s Wrong With Me.” “I don’t feel like myself and nothing seems to be helping,” Rodrigo sings in the pre-chorus, before going on to say, “I went to the doctor and they said I’m fine/But every movie I watch makes me cry/It’s like someone’s putting a weight on my chest/I have to tell my friends but I can’t get out of bed/My head feels lightheaded and my stomach hurts/They say I’m in love and it’s hard to admit/I can’t.” I can’t eat, I can’t sleep/I think it’s your fault that I’m at fault. ”

In the second verse, Smith appears and echoes Rodrigo’s ruminations. “My head keeps pounding with a simple thought: ‘What if this isn’t what I want?'”

You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love is just one week away. The full album will be released on Friday, June 19th.

Rodrigo posted a quick Instagram Story early Saturday to share news of an unannounced Primavera set scheduled for 10:25 p.m. local time, but remained silent on Smith’s side until showtime. “Surprise!!!” she captioned a snapshot of herself giving a thumbs up on the festival grounds. “See you tonight, primavera_sound… I’m looking forward to it.”

The pair performed together at Glastonbury last year.

The unexpected live set comes months before the singer-songwriter’s sold-out arena tour kicks off. Rodrigo will kick off his Unraveled Tour in September in Hartford, Conn., and will tour North America and Europe in support of his third studio album. The tour name comes from the lyrics of her latest single “The Cure,” which reached number one on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart and number five on the Hot 100 in its first week.

Saturday was Primavera Sound’s third day, with inclement weather on opening night canceling many of Thursday’s performances, including headline spots by Doja Cat and Massive Attack. The fest reopened for its second day, and as expected, The Cure, Skrillex, Pink Panther and more took to the stage on Friday.
