Besides being three of the biggest girl groups in the world, what do KATSEYE, LE SERAFIM, and ILLIT have in common? They’ve all experienced their fair share of hate.
Luckily, performers also know that internet trolls and negativity simply mean they’re seeking attention. That’s the theme of their new three-way collaboration, “Iconic by Mistake.” The song arrives in just two days, but on Wednesday (June 10), the trio debuted the song with a cinematic music video.
The visually stunning video features Cat Eye, Le Seseraphim, and Irit in a series of chaotic situations, including driving and crashing a truck on a late-night highway, grave robbing a graveyard, extracting a tooth in a creepy dentist’s office, and setting off an electrical explosion on a power line that starts a fire in a cornfield.
“Hating me is like everything you do/From breakfast to dinner/Algorithmic bulletproof,” the women sing. “Break your finger/Thank you for your comment/It’s because of your hatred/I accidentally became symbolic.”
All three girl groups are signed to HYBE. The clash between the two sides will continue until “Iconic by Mistake” hits streaming services at midnight ET on Friday (June 12).
The new song comes as a side trip to the release of her upcoming EP, Wild, which features Billboard Hot 100 hit lead single “Pinky Up.” LE SSERAFIM just released their album Pureflow Pt, which debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200. In May, “Iconic by Mistake” will be released following April’s ILLIT mini album “MAMIHLAPINATAPAI”.
