Selected from a pool of applicants nationwide, the five artists chosen for the BMAC x America250 “Voices of Tomorrow” initiative represent a mix of creators who have carved out their own path, built a community around their work, and remained committed to authentic self-expression. Encompassing country, R&B, hip-hop, funk, and more, this group is united by a desire to chart their own path through independent careers, building a creative community, or expanding their artistry beyond music. Their journey across genres, disciplines, and regions provides a snapshot of where Black music is heading next.

“As America approaches its 250th anniversary, we have a responsibility to ask not only where we have been, but also who and where we are going. More than talented musicians, these artists are storytellers, culture makers, and architects of our future. “Their voices reflect the richness, diversity, and evolution of black music in America,” said Willie “Prophet” Stigers, co-founder, president, and CEO of BMAC. invests in creators who remind us that music is one of our nation’s greatest forces of connection, truth, and progress. ”

Ahead of the initiative’s Juneteenth celebration, artists will travel to New York for a week of mentorship, networking opportunities, and cultural programming designed to enhance the next stage of their careers.

Among them is New Orleans native Dani Wright, whose career spans multiple creative disciplines. After starting out singing in church, Wright built a reputation as a songwriter and recording artist, collaborating with numerous writers and producers while moving through an industry that rarely saw artists like her in the country space she loved. Her creative ambitions eventually expanded beyond music to television and film, and she is currently developing projects with a focus on storytelling in all its forms.

Los Angeles artist DJ Stussy has spent much of his life immersed in music. A drummer from an early age, he later taught himself piano and production before attending Miles College on a choir scholarship. His experiences as both an educator and artist are a recurring theme in his work, helping him connect with his audience through songs that blend humor, perspective, and lived experience. In recent years, viral moments online have brought his music to a wider audience, but community impact remains at the heart of his story.

For Justin Martin, independence has become a defining part of her artistry. The Houston singer-songwriter, producer, and guitarist has quietly built a devoted following through his emotionally transparent songwriting and hands-on creative process. Recently named a Billboard Rising Artist, Martin writes, produces, and helps shape nearly every aspect of her releases, creating music that feels intimate and deeply personal while also resonating with listeners far beyond her immediate surroundings.

RAHBI Provided by: BMAC

Atlanta’s RAHBI arrives with a resume that extends far beyond recording music. Known for his genre-blending approach to funk and soul, he established himself in the city’s creative community through STRANGE, a live music series he founded to celebrate individuality and artistic freedom. His work as a music director across theater, television and performance spaces reflects artists as invested in building platforms for others as they are in developing their own craft.

Rounding out the class is Columbia, Missouri-born singer-songwriter The Reason. His soulful vocals and cinematic approach to R&B have earned him opportunities to tour the United States and perform on major platforms. His recent music marks a period of reflection and rebirth, drawing on personal experiences, challenges, and growth to create songs that prioritize honesty over trend-following. The result is a body of work rooted in connection, vulnerability, and self-discovery.

Together, the five artists provide a snapshot of the different ways today’s emerging talent is defining success in their own unique ways. Through their different sounds, backgrounds, and creative paths, each brings a unique perspective to the BMAC x America250 Voice of Tomorrow initiative and the future of American music.
