The tracklist for Ariana Grande’s new album Petal is in the process of blossoming, with fans recently noticing that the pop superstar is releasing titles one song at a time on her ongoing Eternal Sunshine Tour.
On Sunday (June 14), Grande performed the second of two shows at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, both of which featured a countdown on a large circular screen that was the visual core of her show. At the 3 minute mark of Sunday’s countdown, the screen “malfunctioned” and displayed “3. petal,” revealing that the third song on the album would be the title track.
The moment confirmed fans’ suspicions that the Wicked star was rolling out his tracklist in this way, after a similar thing happened before his first performance at the LA Arena on Saturday (June 13). As the night’s countdown reached one minute, the message “1. Kiss me” briefly flashed on the screen, and Grande also shared the clip to Instagram on Sunday.
Grande has already released lead single “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early June, and is listed in the second slot of Petal’s tracklist preview on the streaming service, revealing the titles of the first three songs. The album begins with “Kiss Me,” “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” and “Petal.”
‘Petal’ will have a total of 12 tracks, so there are still 9 titles left. Grande’s next performance is scheduled for Wednesday (June 17) at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif., where she will perform three shows and possibly debut three more songs.
Fans will have to wait until the album’s release on July 31 to find out what these songs mean, but the Grammy winner previously described Petal as “a little bit wild” and “from a place I’ve been too shy or too polite to go into before.”
By the time the album arrives, the Eternal Sunshine Tour will be almost over. Following upcoming dates in the US and Canada, Grande will close out the show with 10 shows at London’s O2 Arena until September 1st.
