According to the results of a Billboard poll, BTS’ upcoming showcase at the 2026 FIFA World Cup is the most anticipated of all performances in the tournament lineup.
As of the end of voting on Monday (June 15), readers had voted for BTS more than 8 million times when asked who they would like to meet. LISA came in second place with over 6.5 million responses, accounting for approximately 43%, while BTS had 54%.
Both K-pop artists dominated the survey, but Shakira, Anitta, Katy Perry and Madonna were also nominated.
The 2026 World Cup kicked off on Thursday (July 11), with the opening match and celebrations jointly held in the United States, Canada and Mexico. As for the opening ceremony, Perry, Lisa and Future performed in the US, Alanis Morissette and Michael Bublé sang in the Great White North, and Shakira and Burna Boy took to the stage in Mexico City.
BTS’ World Cup appearance won’t take place until the final game on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with the septet confirmed to perform in the first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime show alongside Madonna and Shakira in a lineup overseen by Coldplay’s Chris Martin. And if the results of the Billboard poll are any indication, it’s sure to be the most exciting piece of all the entertainment FIFA has put together in 2026.
