The Backstreet Boys have soundtracked many formative memories for fans over the years, including Drake. In a video interview with Billboard published Wednesday (June 24), the boy band members reminisced about the special moments they shared with Drizzy in Toronto a few years ago, including one in which Drizzy apparently revealed that their first kiss was one of their songs.

Billboard’s Jera Milligan, Nick Carter, Howie D, A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson and others discuss the moment their respective children finally realized how famous their parents really were. That’s when the subject of Drake first came up, and Richardson said, “Probably the best thing that ever happened to my kids was when they went on the DNA tour.”
During a stop in Champagne Papi’s hometown, Richardson recalled, “I went to a restaurant and it happened to be Drake’s favorite place to eat.” “The manager said, ‘Excuse me, Drake is here. When you’re done, I’d love to come over and say hello,'” the 1990s pop icon continued, mimicking the look of shock on his sons Mason and Maxwell’s faces. “The kids were like, ‘Dad!’
“He was talking about something like our first kiss was on one of our songs,” Richardson added, explaining how that conversation led to Drake joining Backstreet on stage in Toronto to perform “I Want It That Way.” “He was like, ‘Can I come?’
The conversation with Billboard took place shortly after the group released “Bottle Up” from Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie. They are also preparing to return to The Sphere in Las Vegas for their Into the Millennium residency, commemorating more than 25 years since their Billboard 200-topping 10-week run, Millennium.
“We’re taking people on a journey,” MacLean tells Milligan about what fans can expect in Las Vegas. “We’re taking people down memory lane, taking them back to 1999, and asking everyone to wear white… There’s two shows going on at once. We’re doing a regular concert, like if you saw us at a regular arena show, but we’ve got this movie happening in the background. It’s a lot to absorb.”
In addition, members answered some “this and that” questions. Among them is a potentially polarizing question among boy band fans: *NSYNC or O-Town?
“You know, we’re friends with all of them,” Carter says carefully before choosing. “My name is O-town.”
“I say *NSYNC. I’m closer to them,” suggests MacLean, agreeing with Howie D. Howie D said, “I went to college with Chris Kirkpatrick, so I have to say that.”
