Well done, Fortnite fans. Olivia Rodrigo has joined the gaming world. As announced on Thursday (June 25), the pop star has become the latest musician to be immortalized as an avatar with two different outfits, a set of custom items, and themed emotes.
Introduced as part of Fortnite’s Icons series, Rodrigo offers players the signature pink “Rubber Girl” dress from her latest album, as well as a blue cheerleader uniform and long black gloves modeled after her “Good 4 U” music video. A purple electric guitar covered in stickers, a sparkly gas can, an “OR” microphone stand, and butterfly wings are also part of the collection.
“I’ve always loved how Fortnite brings people together in a very specific way,” Rodrigo said in a statement about the partnership. “It’s exciting to have my music brought into this world and for players to embrace the different look of my albums.”
Players can also enjoy two new emotes inspired by Rodrigo’s songs. The emotes are “Good 4 U”, which has mirror breaking and flame effects, and “Maggots for Brains”, which generates heart and fairy dust effects. Additionally, Fortnite has added her Billboard Hot 100 top single “Drop Dead,” sour hits “Deja Vu” and “Maggots” as jam tracks, and fans can also see her as a non-playable character (NPC) in Battle Royale Island.
The two-time Grammy Award winner’s side quest into the world of “Fortnite” seems pretty sad for a girl, so “So in Love” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, moving more than 485,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. and staying at the top spot in its first week. These numbers make Rodrygo’s biggest debut to date.
She follows a long history of musicians joining the Fortnite ring, with Eminem, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd and Ariana Grande joining the Icon Series.
