Summer is getting hotter and Davido is preparing a new collection of songs for soundtracks around the world.
Today (June 29), Billboard can exclusively reveal that the five-time Grammy-nominated Afrobeat superstar will release his sixth studio album on July 31. The new set, titled ‘ORIADE’, which is a coined Yoruba word meaning ‘ori’ (head, destiny) and ‘ade’ (crown), coincides with the 15th anniversary of Davido’s music career.
“Over 15 years ago, I made the decision to trust in something I can’t fully explain…I just knew music was my destiny,” he told Billboard. “ORIADÉ is a celebration of the journey that led me to where I am. Being in a position to help promote African music around the world is something I never take for granted. I hope people listen to my new album and understand that destinations don’t always go as expected. Even when the destination is not yet in sight, the greatest blessings often come from betting on yourself.”
Led by “I Know Who I Be,” released on Friday (June 26), ORIADE will be the official follow-up to 5ive in 2025. 5ive, which featured the Grammy-nominated Omah Lay-assisted “With You,” gave Davido his fifth consecutive world album top five (No. 2). 5ive also featured collaborations with many genre-bending stars, including Victoria Monet, YG Marley, Shenseea, Chris Brown, and Becky G. At ORIADE, David plans to channel his current feelings of reflection and gratitude into a project that embodies his journey towards achieving his purpose.
The new LP also continues a stellar year for the Nigerian powerhouse. On April 11, Davido made his Coachella debut with a colorful 45-minute set that featured a surprise appearance from Adekunle Gold. After conquering the desert, Davido collaborated with Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado to create “No Place Like Home,” which was included on the official soundtrack of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The two performed their anthemic collaboration at a convention countdown concert in Los Angeles, California on June 10th, where Davido boldly wore a custom jacket featuring the names of students and teachers abducted from Oyo State, Nigeria.
