Eric Hutchinson returns to Australia for the first time in 16 years and has booked three theater shows on the east coast in November, marking his first headline performance in the country.

The tour will stop at Brisbane’s Lefty’s Music Hall on November 19th, Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club on November 20th and Sydney’s The Lansdowne on November 21st.

This American singer-songwriter has an unusual background in this market. He mainly entered the market through synchronization. His single ‘Rock’n’Roll’ was featured in the domestic drama ‘Packed to the Rafters’, contributing to its platinum certification in Australia and reaching number one in 2009. Hutchinson first toured Australia in 2008 and 2009 supporting Jason Mraz and Kelly Clarkson, but never returned for his own act.

“Honestly, I don’t know why I didn’t return to Australia other than the fact that it’s so far from New York City, where I live,” he said in a statement, adding that the timing was finally right after years of fan requests.

The story in the United States progressed in parallel. “Rock and Roll” earned Hutchinson his first gold record in the United States, but it failed to reach the Hot 100. Its parent album, Sounds Like This, initially gained attention on its own, debuting at number one on the Billboard Heatseekers chart after being co-signed by Perez Hilton and pushing it to number five on the iTunes Store in September 2007, and being widely released by Warner Bros. Records in May 2008. Since then, they’ve released a string of albums and built a tour-driven following far beyond their radio days.

This effort is in support of Hutchinson’s latest album, 2026 release “Repeating Myself,” which is billed as a return to his breakthrough piano-driven pop and soul. The Australian set will include a mix of new songs and catalog cuts such as ‘Rock & Roll’, ‘OK, It’s Alright With Me’ and ‘A Little More’.

Marshall Hamburger, winner of the 10th season of Australian Idol in 2025, will open for Hutchinson on tour.
