Dolly Parton thanks Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey.
The country icon took to Instagram on Friday (July 3) to thank the pop superstar and Kansas City Chiefs tight end for generously donating $2 million to her Imagination Library, a literacy program that provides free books to children, before the wedding.
Ahead of their Fourth of July weekend wedding, Swift and Kelsea pledged to donate $26 million to charities across the country, including the Grammy Museum Foundation, New York Cares, Harvesters of Kansas City, and Parton’s Imagination Library.
“Taylor and Travis, this is Dolly,” Parton began her video message to the soon-to-be couple. “I heard that you both are donating $2 million to my Imagination Library. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am truly touched and honored by your gratitude.”
She added, “Now, it’s clear that you both have made giving back an important part of your life. So, hey, when your first baby arrives, can I carry it? Because it’s going to be a special baby!”
Parton went on to emphasize the Dollywood Foundation’s mission to “dream more, care more, learn more, grow more,” and said Swift and Kelce’s donation “continues that mission in an even bigger way.”
She ended the video by singing a portion of her 1974 classic “I Will Always Love You.”
News of Swift and Kelsey’s $26 million charitable donation was announced earlier this week. On Thursday (July 2), a representative for the 14-time Grammy winner shared a list of organizations receiving donations from the couple.
Many of the beneficiaries live in places that have personal significance to Swift and Kelsey, including their hometowns of Reading, Pennsylvania, and Cleveland, as well as Nashville and Kansas City, where they built their careers. They also donated to several New York City-based organizations ahead of their wedding, which is scheduled to take place at Madison Square Garden on Friday (July 3).
