Peppa Pig falls right in the middle of the main beefs. Or should I say pork? — after he appeared to criticize Clairo in a new interview with Pitchfork, which prompted Charlie XCX and the Pink Panthers to mobilize for the “Bugs” singer.
The hilarious “drama” began on Tuesday (July 7), when the cartoon character took part in the music publisher’s “Over/Under” video series. When asked if she thought Clyro was overrated or underrated, Peppa threw an exaggerated sidelong glance at the camera and replied sharply, “I don’t know her.”
Of course, fans were quick to point out Peppa’s questionable response in the comments and online, prompting Charlie to join in and show support for his fellow musician. “Come on, let’s cheer her up,” Charlie wrote in a text to Clairo, who shared the message on X, along with a screenshot of Peppa’s comment.
The Pink Panthers got involved after seeing Peppa speak about her in a Pitchfork video, declaring the “Stateside” artist “underrated”. “Does she like animals?” Peppa added. “Maybe she’ll like me because I’m pink too. And everyone likes me.”
However, while the pig protagonist’s comments about her were positive, Pink dutifully responded on X, saying, “I won’t be sweet until you respect Clairo.”
If you’re wondering why Peppa Pig disses Clairo, you may not have watched the singer-songwriter’s “Over/Under” episode in 2019. At the time, Clyro was asked to rate Peppa and she said: “Can I tell you something about Peppa Pig? She’s 7 feet 1 inch…she’s the tallest pig in the world.
