surprise! As announced by the Football Association on Wednesday, July 8, Justin Bieber will co-headline the first-ever FIFA World Cup Finals Halftime Show, along with BTS, Shakira, and Madonna.
In her first major performance since headlining Coachella in April, the Canadian pop star will take the stage with previously announced artists at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, during the World Clap Finals on July 19th. This is the first time FIFA has organized a Super Bowl-style musical showcase at halftime, supporting the Global Citizenship Education Fund, which expands access to quality education and football to children around the world.
“The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way that nothing else can,” Bieber said in a statement. “I am grateful to be a part of this halftime show, and even more grateful to know that it is already helping expand access to education for children around the world.”
Curated by Chris Martin, there will also be a PS22 Chorus featuring Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, The Muppets and Coldplay.
As the final approaches, there are now only eight countries competing for the trophy: Morocco, France, Norway, England, Spain, Belgium, Argentina and Switzerland.
Music has been a key element of the World Cup since it began in June. Stars such as Katy Perry, BLACKPINK’s LISA and J Balvin performed on the first day, and FIFA unveiled the month-long event’s original soundtrack featuring Shakira and Burna Boy’s Billboard chart hit “Die Die,” as well as songs by 21 Savage, Ratt, the Rolling Stones, Jelly Roll, Future, Tyra and more.
“We are proud to have extraordinary artists like Justin Bieber and Coldplay on board,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in a statement. “Madonna, Shakira, BTS, Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, and P.S. 22 Chorus will play a key role in conveying a powerful message of peace, unity and hope to billions of people around the world. As the world unites for the most important football match in history, this groundbreaking spectacle, brought to life by Chris Martin’s creative vision, will celebrate football, music and our shared values and ensure a legacy that extends beyond the final whistle.”
Bieber released two albums in 2025, Swag and Swag II, which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. The set produced a number of Billboard Hot 100 hits, including the No. 2 standout “Daisies.”
