Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter shows off bold new hairstyle on her 20th birthday
The late Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter, Dannielynn Birkhead, has gone full-on goth.
Dannielynn turned 20 years old Monday and her father, Larry Birkhead, shared two new pics of her sporting a bold new look as he wished her a happy birthday on Instagram.
In one pic, Dannielynn rocks a striking bright red short hairdo while wearing an oversized black Ghost t-shirt from Hot Topic.
In another pic, her hair is platinum blond, and she dons a black velvet off-the-shoulder dress, fishnet tights, black leg warmers and big sunglasses. Larry shared that the all-black outfit was from Hot Topic’s collaboration with alternative and punk-inspired fashion brand Social Collusion.
The photographer, 53, also shared two adorable throwback pics of his daughter as a little girl growing up.
“Happy 20th Birthday Dannielynn!” he wrote. “❤️ Love, Dad ❤️.”
Dannielynn got plenty of birthday wishes in the comments, including from Selma Blair, who wrote, “Happy Birthday my beautiful friend!!!!🩷🎂. You are dear to me.”
Dannielynn showed off a shorter ‘do with bangs at the Kentucky Derby in May, though her hair was dip-dyed blond and black at the time.
“Dannielynn is rocking a fresh cut and ‘goth-roc’ style with her @punkraveclothing dress,” Larry shared on Instagram.
He noted that his daughter was “coming into her own” with her style in an an interview with People, sharing that “she wanted something edgy and cool” when it came to her hairstyle, so she got one of her late mom’s hairstylist friends to help her.
“She chopped it all off and put some wild colors in it,” he told the outlet. “I was kind of bracing myself at the hair salon. I guess she’s at the age to do what she wants to do.”
Dannielynn said her late mom “might like” her new look in an interview with Access Hollywood.
“She was cool, and I’m cool, so,” she reasoned, as her dad chimed in about the late Playboy model, “She would love it.”
Smith died in February 2007 from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. She was 39 years old.
In July, Larry blasted the upcoming film “Trust Me, I’m a Doctor,” which tells the story of Dr. Sandeep Kapoor — Smith’s primary physician who was charged with illegally funneling excessive prescription drugs to her but was acquitted following a 2010 trial.
“We absolutely object to any of Anna Nicole’s, my life, my daughter’s life being used in a movie,” he told “Entertainment Tonight,” adding, “And being made characters out of someone [who] was a doctor that supposedly people were supposed to trust.”
He also shared of Dannielynn’s response to the film, “I don’t wanna speak for her on this, but she had some choice words for this doctor and this project.”
