BLACKPINK’s LISA talks about her 2nd solo album and “twin sisterhood” with ROSE

LISA looks back on her past as she prepares to move forward as a soloist. In the Vanity Fair cover story published on Tuesday (June 23), the BLACKPINK members reminisced about meeting their bandmates when they were trainees and revealed that they have already started working on their next album.

An origin story that many BLINKs know by heart, LISA was the second of the quartet to enroll in YG Entertainment’s training program. There she met JENNIE and taught her the ropes, then JISOO came along too. “I spoke very little Korean and she spoke very little English, but we went out together,” Lisa told the magazine. “But we found a way to have a conversation. It was a great conversation.”

However, it was Rose who arrived about a year later, and LISA was particularly close to her at the time. “We became like twin sisters,” the White Lotus star says of Rosé, as they were the only members of her family living overseas.

The foursome later became one of the biggest girl groups in the world, with four songs charting on the Billboard 200, including 2022’s No. 1 album, “Born Pink,” and 11 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 to date. In 2025, LISA released her debut solo album “Alter Ego,” and according to VF, she is currently working on her second solo career in the United States.

The publication did not provide any further details other than the fact that LISA is in an “exploratory” recording stage and has “loose” ideas for a second LP in support of an upcoming Las Vegas residency. As announced in March, performers will be at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace over two weekends in November.

However, although she is now one of the most popular singers and dancers, LISA’s mother initially had other plans for her. “When I was little, my mother wanted me to be a child actor and sent me to acting school,” she told the publication, noting that she didn’t like it at the time — even though she later made her screen debut in The White Lotus and is considering other acting projects. “I feel like acting was always the one thing I never did.” [wanted to] try. “
