Duffy will be returning to the stage for the first time in over 15 years.

The Welsh singer announced via Instagram on Friday, June 6, that she will perform a “secret intimate show” in London on July 5 to debut new songs as part of her tentative return to public life after years of withdrawal from the entertainment industry.

Duffy posted on her Instagram Stories: “Next month, on July 5th, we will be playing a secret and intimate show in London, so I hope some of you can join us.” “Due to limited capacity, I can only choose a few songs, but I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll be singing new songs as well.” The show will be voting-only and fans will be invited to enter via her social channels.

This performance marks one of the most important moments in Daffy’s gradual comeback. Last month, the singer shared a black-and-white image taken in a recording studio with the caption: “I wish I could find the right words to explain how much I’ve missed you guys. I’m working on coming back.”

Earlier this year, Disney+ announced an upcoming Hulu original documentary in which Duffy tells her full story in her own words for the first time. It covers his upbringing in Wales, his breakthrough in the early 2000s, his decade-long retreat and the horrific assault that led to it.

Born Amy Ann Duffy in Bangor, Wales, the singer rose to global fame in 2008 with her debut album Rockferry, which became the UK’s best-selling album that year and won three Brit Awards, a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album, and an Ivor Novello Award.

The lead single “Mercy” peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2008 and reached number 1 on the UK Singles Chart, where it remained at number one for five consecutive weeks. Rockferry itself peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 and remains certified five times platinum in the UK. She disappeared from the public eye after releasing her second album, “Endless,” in 2010, and has released only two new songs since then: the 2020 ballad “River in the Sky” and the radio-only single “Something Beautiful.”

In 2020, Duffy broke her silence about the reason for her 10-year absence, revealing in an Instagram post and a longer personal essay that she had been drugged at a restaurant during a birthday celebration, then transported to a foreign country, where she was held captive and raped by an anonymous assailant.

She said the ordeal made her suicidal and that “absolutely no one” knew what happened until she chose to share her story. To date, no arrests have been made public in connection with this incident.
