A concert-goer died after falling from the second-floor seating area during a Goose concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday night, June 20th.

The 51-year-old man, whose identity has not been released at press time, fell from a “high position” while attending the rock band’s sold-out show at the iconic venue.

“At approximately 9:51 p.m., officers observed a 51-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive inside Madison Square Garden,” the NYPD told the New York Post in a statement.

The man, who was attending the concert with his wife, was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not released further details about the fall, and the incident remains under investigation. The man was sitting in section 300, according to the Associated Press.

Goose, who is currently touring in support of his latest album Big Modern!, released a statement on social media following the tragedy. Saturday’s performance was the band’s second consecutive sold-out show at MSG.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic events that occurred on tonight’s show,” Goose wrote on Instagram. “We would like to express our deepest sympathies to everyone affected. We would like to thank the emergency personnel and venue staff who rushed to the scene with the utmost care.”

As of Sunday morning (June 21), Goose remained scheduled to perform at New York City’s Central Park SummerStage later that day.

This incident is the second fatal fall involving a concertgoer at a major venue in the New York area in recent years. In 2021, a fan died after falling from a stadium balcony during a Dead & Company concert at Citi Field. A man in his 40s fell down the second-floor stairs during a break at Queens Baseball Stadium, home of the New York Mets.
