John Summitt spoke out following an incident that occurred during the producer’s set at Lily’s Club Monte Carlo in Monaco, France on June 7th. The night, which happened during Monaco F1, was announced as a joint bill from the producer and Travis Scott.
However, the show did not go on as planned, and footage from the night circulated on the internet showing Scott interrupting Summit’s set after he arrived late to the performance. The video shows Scott climbing onto the DJ deck during Summit’s set and performing in front of the crowd.
“Last night in Monaco was insane,” Samit wrote in an Instagram Story posted on Monday, June 8. “Last night was out of control. My show was canceled because another artist showed up late and forced himself on stage. I love everyone who was there to dance and have a good time.”
The producer also shared a video of himself performing his hit song “Go Back” during his set with the caption, “I want to go back (on stage to finish the performance).” He also shared another clip of the incident with the caption, thanking production director John Fink for “holding it down through the chaos.” The video shows a crowded stage with people crowding in front of where Summitt is standing, and Fink can be heard telling another man in the crowd, “Don’t touch me like that.”
Scott’s team did not immediately respond to Billboard’s request for comment.
Summitt is busy playing across Europe this summer, with a Monday night residency in Ibiza scheduled. [UNVRS] Running until the end of July, the producer has also added Tomorrowland to the festival lineup. He will return stateside in late July for a headlining set at Lollapalooza, followed by a North American arena tour in the fall.
