Cat Eye once again addressed Manon’s ongoing hiatus, sharing with Allure that the best thing the members and EYEKONS can do right now is not to “speculate” as to whether or not she will return.
In a cover story published on Thursday (June 25), Sofia served as a spokesperson for the group, which also consists of Megan, Lala, Yunche, and Daniela, regarding questions regarding the missing bandmates. In February, HYBE broke the news that Manon was leaving Cat’s Eye to “focus on her health.”
“We have made the announcement regarding her health, so it is not our place or anyone else’s place to rush her,” the Filipino performer began. “We want to give her all the time that she needs and all the space that she needs. So we don’t want to assume or decide anything… She really deserves it and the door is always open.”
Sofia also admitted that she and her groupmates empathize with fans asking for more information on when Manon will return to Cat Eye. After four months without her, many EYEKONS are also speculating online that she is no more.
“People love her,” she added. “They love Cat’s Eye. If I were in their shoes, I would wish so too, and we understand that. But all we can say is that we hope you continue to offer your love, your support, your patience, and all of that, because we all deserve it. Everyone does.”
After forming in HYBE’s “Dream Academy” series (included in Netflix’s Pop Star Academy documentary), Kate Eye debuted in 2024. The group is currently preparing to release a wild EP, led by the single “Pinky Up,” which reached number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100, but Manon has not been involved in the project’s development since taking a break in February.
“After a candid and thoughtful conversation, we shared that Manon will be temporarily taking a break from group activities to focus on her health and well-being,” HYBE wrote at the time. “We fully support this decision. Katei will continue to do everything we can for each other and for our fans, who mean everything to us. The group will continue our planned activities during this period and look forward to being together again at the appropriate time.”
