There is no cure for the shock Olivia Rodrigo is experiencing from teaming up with one of her idols, Robert Smith. Days before the pop star’s new album, You She’m Pretty Sad for a Girl So In Love, duet song “What’s With Me” was released, Olivia Rodrigo penned a heartfelt letter about Robert Smith.

In a handwritten letter sent to fans via his email subscription service on Monday (June 8), Rodrygo reflected on the previous night’s premiere of an unreleased collaboration at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound. “I’m so excited to tell you all about this song and it’s been so hard to keep it a secret!” she gushed. “This is my first feature on an album and I can’t believe I’m doing it with Robert Smith!”

“Somebody pinch me!!!” the Gen Z star continued, fronting The Cure. “Robert has been the soundtrack of my life for as long as I can remember. He has written some of my favorite songs of all time. His music moves and inspires me in ways that words cannot describe. I was lucky enough to spend time with him last year and experience his generosity and kindness firsthand.”

She added, “I can’t believe this song exists, but I can’t wait for it to be officially released!”

“You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love” finally drops on Friday (June 12). So far, the Smiths’ influence has been woven into both of the tracks Rodrigo has released from the project. In lead single “Drop Dead,” which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, she references The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven,” and the album’s second single is simply titled “The Cure.”

Now, ‘What’s Wrong With Me’ completes a trifecta of Cure-related songs on Rodrigo’s third studio album, as previewed in front of thousands of fans at her surprise set at Primavera Sound on Sunday (June 7). Smith also joined him on stage, giving this tender ballad a proper live debut. The two sang lyrics such as, “My head feels lightheaded and my stomach hurts/Even though I say I’m in love, it’s hard to admit it/I can’t eat, I can’t sleep/I think what’s wrong with me is because of you.”

Rodrigo and Smith previously performed together at Glastonbury last July.
