Perrie Edwards gave perhaps her most candid interview yet, opening up about her past conflicts with ex-fiancé Zayn Malik and former bandmate Jesy Nelson.

On Wednesday’s (June 10) episode of Great Company with Jamie Laing, the Little Mix singer spoke for the first time about the emotionally draining experience of splitting from the One Direction alum in 2015 after being engaged for two years. “When you go through heartbreak, it’s like hell,” she began. “You feel abandoned, you feel like you’re not good enough, you feel left behind wanting something better.”

“And to make matters worse, I feel like the world was laughing at me at the time,” Edwards continued, noting that she believes Malik’s breakup was probably not that difficult. “When you’re moving forward with someone else, you always do better. When you’re left behind, it’s a tough time because you’re like, ‘Oh, they left me for someone more beautiful. They found someone better than me.'”

The British boy bander’s next partner was Gigi Hadid, with whom he had an on-and-off relationship for about six years, before announcing they had broken up for good in 2021 after the birth of their daughter Kai in 2020. The model also co-starred with Malik in the music video for their single “Pillow Talk,” which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Let’s just say there was a little — let me just say — a little bit of overlap,” Edwards said of Malik and Hadid. “And then there’s a song they wrote about you, and then there’s another person in the video. It just happened one after the other. I remember finding out… it was just the nail in the coffin.”

Billboard has reached out to Malik for comment.

As for her stand with Nelson, Nelson recently laid bare her grievances with Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall in a new documentary, claiming members of the group failed to support her with various mental health issues, but Edwards said: “Sometimes you just can’t beat people.”

“What pisses me off the most is that they don’t take any responsibility,” she continued. “It just makes my blood boil. I’m not blaming you for everything. I’m not saying she’s this fucking monster and it’s all her fault. But take some responsibility for your actions and realize that you’ve been difficult. You’ve certainly had your difficult moments.”

“You can’t pick up on someone so many times that you lose track of your own sanity…I thought I’d tried everything. So to sit there in further interviews and argue publicly and be like, ‘I wasn’t supported,'” she continued. But you were. ”

Ms Edwards added that while she had previously wanted to rekindle her friendship with Nelson, that was no longer the case. “Part of me wanted to do it until the documentary came out, but then a part of me pulled back again,” she added on the podcast. “I don’t have a goddamn bone in my body, but I can cut you off. I can forgive you, but I don’t want you in my space.”

Billboard has also reached out to Nelson’s representatives for comment.

The documentary in question is titled Life After Little Mix and is a six-part series that premiered on Prime Video in February. The documents explore Nelson’s difficult parenting journey after becoming a mother of twin girls with spinal muscular atrophy in 2025, and also include how the ‘Boys’ singer said she left Little Mix in December 2020 because she felt ignored and misunderstood by the other three members. Nelson also claimed that one of her bandmates had expressed a desire to leave the group before she did.

Edwards, Pinnock, and Thirlwall continued to work together as a trio and released the album Between Us in 2021. Edwards is currently in the midst of a solo career, most recently releasing the single “Passenger Princess” in May.
