June got off to a great start with new music releases from Taylor Swift, Role Models, and more. Billboard wants to know which one is your favorite.
Perhaps the hottest new song to arrive on Friday (June 5) is “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which the Elas tour headliner wrote for the new Toy Story 5 movie, which will be released in a few weeks. On the country-inspired track, the pop superstar revisits the roots of her genre, paying homage to one character in particular: Jesse, the cowgirl action figure voiced by Joan Cusack.
“Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post following the release of the song, which will appear on the film’s official soundtrack. “Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge, but it quickly felt like second nature. And being a Toy Story kid from age 5 to now is an adventure I plan to continue into infinity and beyond.”
Role Models also return this week with a new song, “High Hopes 3000,” marking the official start of a new era following the huge success of their previous album, “Kansas Anymore.” The rising star looks for love in the lead single from her upcoming album, Chuck Timely & The Hourglass.
Also returning is Lizzo, who released her first new album since 2022’s “Special,” “Bitch.” “Taking back the word ‘bh’ is powerful,” she said in a statement about the album’s title when she announced the project. “We are transforming labels once used to demean women into declarations of confidence and unabashed self-love.”
The first Friday in June will also see the release of Niall Horan’s new album ‘Dinner Party’ and new singles from Tinashe, with whom he shared ‘Too Easy’, and Ryan Beatty, who returned with ‘Secret Language’. Additionally, the streaming service has been updated with new albums from Vybz Kartel (God & Time), Vince Staples (Cry Baby), HorsegiirL (Nature Is Healing), and Prospa (Free Your Mind).
