Taylor Swift stopped by with a video message to hand Alan Jackson flowers and thank him for influencing her life and career at the country icon’s final concert on Saturday (June 27).
The clip, which played on a big screen at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, showed the pop star saying that her favorite song by Jackson was “Drive,” because “you really paint that image with that song.”
“That was a great example to me when I was younger, of artists just showing their fans details of their lives,” she continued. “Thank you so much for providing such support and encouragement to me and other artists and writers over the years.”
The 14-time Grammy winner was one of several artists that night to pay tribute to Jackson, who officially ended his 30-year touring career at the Nashville showcase. Titled Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finale, it featured clips recorded by Reba McEntire, Randy Travis, Keith Urban, and Zac Brown, as well as guest performances by George Strait, Luke Combs, Eric Church, and Carrie Underwood. Part of the victory lap was filmed for an NBC special that aired at a later date.
Swift’s cameo comes at a busy time for the Elas headliner, who was recently inducted into the esteemed ranks of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She spoke at a ceremony shortly after the release of her original Toy Story 5 song, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which became her 15th No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
It has also been widely rumored that Swift will be tying the knot with her fiancé Travis Kelsey in the coming days, with the wedding reportedly scheduled for the Fourth of July weekend at Madison Square Garden.
