Taylor Swift may have written her latest song for Toy Story 5, but the numbers she’s showing off on stream are no child’s play.
Three of the world’s largest DSPs independently announced on Friday, June 5th that “I Knew It, I Knew You” has carved out a place in platform history following its release on the same day. On Spotify, the pop star’s movie theme became the most-streamed country song by a female artist in a single day, and on Apple Music, it broke the record for first-day previewed soundtrack single, making it the biggest country track of 2026.
Additionally, on Amazon Music, “I Knew It, I Knew You” had the biggest streaming date of any song in 2026 so far.
Swift dropped the song on Friday, after spending the week teasing her appearance in the Toy Story movie, which is set to be released on June 19th. When she finally announced that she had written an original song for the series, she wrote on Instagram: I sang this song as soon as I got home from the screening. ”
She wrote the track’s breezy, nostalgic lyrics for the cowgirl character Jessie, voiced by Joan Cusack. “Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time,” the 14-time Grammy winner said in a post after the song was released. “Creating something for Jesse was a new challenge, but it also felt natural.”
“I Knew It, I Knew You” marks Swift’s first release since last fall’s “The Life of a Showgirl.” The project spent 12 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 and spawned two Billboard Hot 100 number one singles, “The Fate of Ophelia” and “Opalite.”
The new song will be included on the official Toy Story 5 soundtrack and will be released on the same day as the film’s world premiere.
