8 Base ransomware data leak site was seized in international law enforcement work

Coordinated law enforcement operations have removed dark web data leaks and negotiation sites related to the 8 base ransomware gang.

Visitors to the data leak site will be greeted with the seizure flag that “this hidden site and criminal content was seized by the Bavarian National Criminal Police Service on behalf of Bamberg’s Office of Public Servants.”

The takedown involved the UK National Criminal Agency (NCA), US Federal Investigation Agency (FBI), Europole, and agencies from Bavaria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Japan, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and Thailand .

Thai media reports show that four European nationals (two men and two women) have been arrested in four different locations in four different locations as part of an effort called the codenames for Operation Phobos Aetor It has been revealed that. The suspect’s identity has not been revealed.

Authorities allegedly seized more than 40 evidence, including mobile phones, laptops and digital wallets.

They are said to be related to the deployment of Phobos ransomware to 17 Switzerland companies between April 2023 and October 2024. Additionally, the group has been accused of making $16 million through attacks claiming more than 1,000 casualties worldwide.

Cybersecurity

overlaps have been identified between the 8 base and the ransom house, particularly with regard to ransom notes and dark web infrastructure.

The latest developments stem from the aftermath of a series of famous confusion related to hives, rock bits and black cats in recent years. Late last year, Evgenii Ptitsyn, a 42-year-old Russian citizen who was thought to be the administrator of Phobos ransomware, was handed over to the US.
