The US has agreed to resume military aid and sharing information with Ukraine after it has “preparedly” to accept a 30-day ceasefire in conflict with Russia.

The two countries issued a joint statement after authorities met in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, saying Ukraine is open to the US proposal that “enact an immediate, interim 30-day suspension that can be extended by mutual agreement between the parties.”

Ukrainian President Voldy Mie Zelensky told Telegram that the ceasefire proposal would “establish a ceasefire for 30 days, not just missiles, drones and bombs, but along the entire frontline, not just along the Black Sea.”

US President Donald Trump said he hopes Russia agrees to a ceasefire plan and informs the US will hold a meeting with Russia on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Following progress in consultations, the US will tell Kyiv, which suspended last week, “we will immediately lift the suspension to resume intelligence news sharing and security assistance,” effectively hobling Ukrainian ability to track the movement of Russian troops, attack missile strikes and carry out attacks.

The halt came after an explosion between Trump and Zelensky last month. He traveled to Washington to discuss the rare earth mineral trade.

The joint statement showed that the deal has returned to the table, saying that the two countries “conclude a comprehensive agreement as soon as possible to expand Ukraine’s economy and develop Ukraine’s important mineral resources to ensure long-term prosperity and security.”

Al Jazeera’s Alan Fisher, a report from Washington, DC, noted that the joint statement did not include any mention of the explicit security assurance that Zelensky had sought during a controversial meeting with Trump in his oval office.

“But they [security guarantees] It doesn’t seem to be at this time. Perhaps that’s something you can debate, but I know Donald Trump is really against that idea of Ukraine’s explicit security guarantee,” he said.

‘yes or no’

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Ball is currently in the Russian court.

“I’ll tell them this is what’s on the table. Ukraine is ready to stop filming and start talking, and now it’s up to them to say yes or no,” he said. “If they say no, unfortunately, they’ll know what the obstacles to peace here are.”

Mike Waltz, US National Security Advisor, added: “The Ukrainian delegation today has made it very clear that President Trump shares his vision of peace.”

Waltz said negotiators “have entered into substantial details on how this war would end forever.”

Zelensky said on Telegram that Ukraine was “prepared for peace” and that it now fell to the US to “persuade” Russia.

“Ukraine is ready for peace. Russia must show that it is ready to end the war or continue the war. It is a time of perfect truth,” he said.

Russia began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine three years ago, and is now being held around the fifth of Ukrainian territory, including Crimea, which was annexed in 2014.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he is open to discussing the peace deal. However, he excluded territorial concessions and stated that Ukraine must fully withdraw from the four Ukrainian regions, claimed and partially controlled by Russia.

Talks in Saudi Arabia began just hours after Ukraine launched its biggest drone attack on Moscow and its surrounding areas, claiming it had attacked an oil refinery and facilities in Russia’s Olyor region near the Russian capital.

The attack in which 337 drones were defeated in Russia killed at least three employees in the meat warehouse and caused short closures at four Moscow airports, Russian officials said.
