The Israeli Army says it will recapture parts of the main land corridor in order to “expand the security zone and create partial buffers.”

Israeli forces resume ground operations in the besieged Gaza Strip and regain control of major land corridors while continuing to fire widespread artillery on enclaves surrounded as Hamas collapsed.

The Israeli Army said Wednesday that its forces would take control of the center of the Nezzarim Corridor in order to “expand the security zone and create a partial buffer between the north and south of the strip.”

Last month, Israeli forces retreated from the corridor. The corridors bisected Gaza, allowing civilians in central and southern Gaza to return to what remained in their northern homes more than a year after the war.

Reported from Gaza city, Hani Mahmoud of Al Jazeera, said the re-occupying of Netsarim would prevent the free movement of Palestinians within the enclave.

“The presence of Israeli forces in this region is on par with ground invasions, which is clear. [Israeli military] statement. It will be a starting point or part of the launch point for the occupying forces to carry out military operations in the region,” Mahmoud said.

After Israel resumed Gaza, ground operations come after Hamas killed more than 400 people on Tuesday after accusing Hamas of rejecting many of the 59 prisoners of war being held in Gaza.

To put pressure on Hamas to accept the New Deal, Israel blocked the delivery of all aid to the strip earlier this month, cutting power to the enclave.

Hamas argued that Israel should stick to the original ceasefire signed in January. This was to negotiate the extradition of the remaining prisoners, a permanent halt of hostility and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

“Why should we present a proposal when there are signed contracts with international political parties acting as guarantors?” Taher Al-Nono, media advisor to Politician Director Hamas, told Al Jazeera.

“There’s also a [United Nations] Security Council resolution. We responded proactively to all the efforts that were made against us. it was [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu is backed by a contract. It was Netanyahu that turned his eye on it. Therefore, rather than Hamas or resistance, Netanyahu should be pressured to obey. ”

On Wednesday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened to escalate the attack if all prisoners held in Gaza were not released and Hamas was not removed from Gaza. “Israel will act with strength you have never seen,” he said.

Gaza Health Authorities said dozens of people were killed on Wednesday in several Israeli air raids, including foreign employees killed in attacks on UN compounds in central Gaza. Israel said it had attacked Hamas targets in central Gaza.

Medic said they struggled to deal with the sharp rise in deaths and were injured as hospitals lack medical supplies amid the new Israeli lockdown.
