Intel launches a sustainable venue program

Intel has launched the Sustainable Venue Program, a new initiative designed to help clients achieve sustainability goals while streamlining the venue discovery process.

The launch supports event bookers who make faster, more informed decisions with a carbon budget in mind.

Already equipped with over 500 UK venues, the Sustainable Venue Programme highlights suppliers of Intel’s Logic Meetings platform that meet key sustainability standards set by in-house ESG specialists. Complement existing ESG certifications by providing a consistent framework for identifying eco-friendly venues. These venues are easily recognised by Intel clients and consultants during searches and suggestions within the platform.

Since 2022, recognized sustainability-certified venues like Ecosmart and B Corp have been highlighted on the Logic Meetings platform. People in the Sustainable Venue program are now marked Green Leaf Logo, making it easy to identify while allowing Bookers to access full certification details.

Anna Snoep, Operations Director at Intel said: “By making it easy to identify sustainable venues during the meeting and event planning process, clients can make informed choices when selecting venues.”

She added: “By clearly labeling sustainable venues with our online proposals, our clients can quickly identify more sustainable venue options, all part of our work to help our clients achieve their sustainability goals.”

The Sustainable Venue Program identifies venues that meet six essential sustainability standards.

On-site recycling – Venues need a comprehensive recycling system with clearly marked bins for effective waste management. An alternative to a buffet lunch – plated meals or pre-described options should be available to minimize food waste that involves efforts to donate or reuse excess food. ESG Certification – Venues must retain certifications such as Sustainable Tourism and EcoSmart and demonstrate their commitment to sustainability. Reduction targets – Venues should actively pursue measurable sustainability targets, including reducing energy use, waste and water consumption. Zero Single Use Plastics – Venue is required to implement a Zero Single Use Plastic Policy, where you can choose reusable or compostable alternatives when possible. Sustainable Event Operations – Venues should offer sustainable conference packages, digital print alternatives, and other sustainable event options.

The Sustainable Venue Program is continuously reviewed and updated annually by Intel’s Supplier Partnership Team and ESG Specialists to ensure that sustainability standards are still in effect. You will be self-certified to participate in the program with inspections and spot checks completed on-site throughout the year.
