Elon Musk may have stepped away from his duties as the leader of the government’s Department of Efficiency and President Trump’s advisor, but he is still active in the DC Circle. He is on the other side this time, according to a Bloomberg report citing an unnamed source.

According to Bloomberg, Musk on his orbit and others on his orbit are calling members of Congress directly. His efforts appear to be directed to a bill introduced on May 15th, known as the Autonomous Vehicle Acceleration Act.

Musks bet on much of Tesla’s future in regards to AI, robotics and autonomous vehicles. He has often linked the value of the company to its investment and ultimately commercialization of self-driving vehicles. And next month, Tesla will launch a small Geofykens Robotaki service in Austin, Texas. Tesla also wants to eventually deploy self-driving cars (branded cybercabs) that do not have steering wheels or pedals. However, today there are no clear federal regulations or standards that allow such vehicles to operate on a large scale.
