Amazon announced Tuesday it is expanding its simultaneous and next-day delivery services to more than 4,000 small cities and towns in rural America. Fort Seneca, Ohio. Lewis, Delaware. North Padre Island, Texas. Sharptown, Maryland.
The e-commerce giant plans to invest more than $4 billion by 2026 to triple the size of its delivery network. Amazon recognizes an increasing demand for faster delivery from local customers, where options are often limited when shopping online.
By increasing investments in same-day and next-day delivery, the company aims to create more jobs in rural communities.
Amazon also reported that the number of items delivered the same day or the next day in the US increased by more than 30% compared to the same period last year. In 2024 alone, the company provided over 9 billion items using faster delivery services.
The announcement comes along with Amazon preparing for the Prime Day event, which lasts 96 hours from July 8th to July 11th.
