Google is launching a new experimental app called DOPPL, which uses AI to visualize how different outfits look to you, the company announced Thursday. This app is available on iOS and Android in the US

DOPPL is designed to allow you to virtually try out the costumes in your own digital version. This app works by having your full body photo uploaded first. From there you can effectively try it out, using photos and screenshots of different outfits. These images can be pictures of costumes seen by thrift stores and friends, or even screenshots of costumes seen when scrolling through social media.

When you select the outfit to visualize, DOPPL will create an image of your virtual version of yourself wearing the clothes. DOPPL can also take these static images and convert them into AI-generated videos, giving you a better sense of what outfits look like in real life.

Save your favorite looks and view all other virtual tryons. Additionally, you can share your appearance with others.

Tech Giant says the new app is built on Google Shopping’s recently launched features, effectively allowing you to try on clothes. By launching features in the Stand-Alone app, Google makes features easy to access while allowing you to explore styles in an easy and interactive way. It could also help Google collect more data about how such apps work and support future efforts in the space.

Google previously offered virtual Tryon technology, but previous features focused on displaying items on a wide range of models’ bodies. DOPPL allows companies to have their clothes tested with an animated version of their body.

“We hope that DOPPL will help you explore your style in new and exciting ways,” Google said in a blog post. “As a Google Labs experiment, DOPPL is in its early days and may not always make things right. The details of the fit, appearance and clothing may not be accurate.”

Given that DOPPL is an experimental launch, it is unclear when or if Google is planning to bring the app to additional regions.
