All New York City’s public transport system is poised to break the record for ridership in 2025, with the first half of the year showing strong growth in ridership, on-time service and customer satisfaction.
City buses and subways carried over 850 million riders in the first half of the year. As Aaron Ginsberg explains at 6 square feet, MTA subways had a 11% reduction in weekday delays and bus service offerings exceeded 95% per month. Subway riderships increased 8% compared to last year, and 22% compared to 2022.
The system’s Paratrasit service also saw an increase in riderships and a performance rate of 92% in June.
According to Ginsburg, “MTA Credit improved bus service to upgrades made earlier this year. This has resulted in increased service on eight expresses and 15 local highrider routes. More profits are expected from the redesign of the Queens Bus Network.
