An analysis by Trajector Medical highlights the most accessible US cities for people with disabilities, with Knoxville, Tennessee taking the top spot.

According to the rankings, the best performing cities offer exceptional access to wheelchair-friendly rentals, accessible buildings, special education teachers, employment opportunities, public transport and Medicare services. According to the category, Atlanta is ranked first in accessibility, Toledo, Ohio, first in affordable prices, and Cincinnati is ranked first in healthcare.

Despite the passage of the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), many public and private spaces in the United States continue to pose accessibility challenges for people who reduce mobility, hearing, vision loss, or other disabilities. “Parezed American veterans report that more than a third of people with mobility disorders have missed important events and appointments due to access barriers.” Additional challenges include high housing costs, limited access to well-maintained jobs, wheelchair-friendly facilities and vehicles, specially trained teachers, and healthcare.

The analysis states that “we will address the need to adopt comprehensive technology and address visible needs. It is important to increase accessibility for people with disabilities, such as sensory and cognitive adjustment.”
