Google is rolling out a new feature called “priority sources” for the US and India. This allows users to choose the preferred choice of news sites and blogs that appear in the Top Stories section of Google’s search results. Enabling this feature means that you’ll be able to see more content from sites you like, the company says.

When users search for a specific topic, a “Star” icon appears next to the Top Story section. You can tap on that icon to search for them and start adding sources.

Once you have selected a source, you can update the results to see more content from the selected source. Google said that in some queries users will also see another “From Source” section under the Top Story section.

This feature allows users to retrieve information from any source they like, but it could trap them in ideological bubbles without exposing them to different perspectives on a particular topic.

Google debuted this feature as an experimental-based search lab feature, so users had to opt in to enable it. The company said that during the testing phase, more than half of its users selected four or more sources.

Currently, the company is making it available to all users for US and Indian English searches.
