Ultrhuman gets Vio HealthTech and starts expanding cycles and ovulation tracking

Smart Ring Maker Ultrhuman has acquired women’s health technology company Vio HealthTech to begin advanced cycles and ovulation tracking, the company announced Friday. The financial conditions for the transaction have not been disclosed.

Thanks to the acquisition, the company is launching a new plug-in for the superhuman Ring Air called “Cycle and Ovulation Pro.” The plugin allows users to track cycles accurately, get fertility planning support with ovulation confirmation, and detect patterns such as early or slow ovulation. The plugin also allows users to record moods, symptoms, and more to reveal long-term wellness trends.

Cycle and Ovulation Pro uses a temperature sensory algorithm originally developed for Vio’s Ovusense Fertility monitor. The technology has been developed over 15 years and is trained on datasets of over 260,000 cycles collected with medical grade sensors, and a superhumane note.

With superhumane ring air, this technology allows for finger-mediated cycle tracking, allowing personalized insights that adapt over time and better understand the user’s cycle.

“Most menstrual tracking platforms are built for women with a normal 28-day cycle,” Ultrhuman wrote in a press release. “In reality, the majority of cycle patterns are often diverse in people with conditions such as lysis, PCOS, endometriosis, thyroid disorders, and many others. In many cases, they do not get accurate or cooperative experiences.

Ultrhuman points out that existing free-cycle and ovulation power plugs that provide basic tracking tools and calendar-based predictions are still available.

“Wearables shape the future of health,” said Rob Milnes, CEO of Vio HealthTech, in a press release. “We are pleased to bring Obsense’s women’s health insights to a considerable number of audiences through ultra-white Ringair.”

Cycle and Ovulation Pro will be available for users in the US, UK, EU, Australia and Canada as a premium power plug for the Ultrhuman app starting Friday, or for $39.99 per year for $39.99 per year. The company plans to release it in more regions in the future.
