Deal wins a lawsuit, but not rippling

A Florida judge on Tuesday dismissed a lawsuit filed against Deel, the fighter who fought. And Deal described it as a “wavy” and “wavy support” lawsuit, but this is not the infamous lawsuit filed earlier this year by rivals with alleged corporate spying.

“This lawsuit has nothing to do with rippling, we weren’t parties to it and we didn’t fund it,” wrote Wavy CEO Parker Conrad. (The wavy representative declined to comment further.)

Still, this is good news for Deal. A lawsuit was filed in Florida by Melanie Damien in January. Melanie Damien has accused the Deal of avoiding US sanctions by processing Surge Capital Venture payments.

Surge was the subject of another US SEC lawsuit alleging that the company was involved in a Ponzi scheme that fraudulent church members out of the $35 million. Damien, designated by the Surge court, was tasked with recovering the assets, Semafor reported at the time. She filed a lawsuit on behalf of the investor, claiming that the deal was responsible for processing the payment. This is if it is rejected.

Deel is trying to tie the case into a case filed by ripples as it is part of Damian’s lawyers citing Racketeer’s influence and corrupt organizational law (RICO).

Ripples suing Deal in California alleges that Deel violated Rico, the Defend wrest Secrets Act, and California law, as previously reported by TechCrunch. Rico is well known for being a law originally used to prosecute gangs.

However, Rippling’s lawsuit includes a different set of allegations centered on a wavy employee who testified in an Irish court that he was acting as a paid corporate spy for Deal.

Deal clearly hopes that if one court dismisses a lawsuit alleging RICO violation, another court will follow the lawsuit. “The ruling invites further questions regarding the reliability of another unfounded set of Rico’s accusations due to ripples in California,” a Deal spokesperson told TechCrunch in an emailed statement.

However, these cases involve a variety of actions and circumstances, so you will need to wait and see how California courts respond. Meanwhile, Deal is complaining of ripples, claiming that one of Ripples’ employees is impersonating a customer illegally.

In addition to that, Keith O’Brien, the person who confessed to being a business spy for the Deal, successfully obtained a restraining order against those who said he was chasing him and scaring his family. O’Brien is now the witness to the Ripping star in that case against the Deal.

Deal’s lawyers initially denied involvement, but the company later admitted that they had hired O’Brien’s “scrupulous surveillance.”

“Alex and his father can deflect and delay, but if we get a day in court, we’ll face music,” Conrad added in a tweet, referring to the case of Deal’s founder and CEO Alex Bouaziz and his father.

“Deal will explore all options for relief, defend itself vigorously against pending cases and continue to focus on winning in the market,” a Deal spokesman said in the statement.
