From costly disposal to destruction of PFA at the site: PFASUIKI’s technology offers a new way to solve the PFAS wastewater challenge.
One of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time is one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. Known as “eternal chemicals” for their extreme persistence, PFA accumulates in soil, water and living things, poses risks to human health and ecosystems. The industry has long relied on PFA for the stability and performance of its own chemicals, but environmental and regulatory pressures regarding its use are rapidly increasing.
At Pfasuiki, we are on a mission to permanently eliminate PFA from our environment. The groundbreaking electrochemical oxidation (EO) system is designed to destroy PFAs at the molecular level rather than trapping or enriching them. With its proprietary electrodes, scalable system design and deep material science expertise, we provide a reliable and economical pipe termination solution that enables industry, municipalities and landfills to move from PFAS management to true PFA elimination.
PFAS stands out in the landscape of destruction
Today’s PFAS treatment is governed by separation-based methods such as activated carbon adsorption, ion exchange, or reverse osmosis. These approaches are effective in removing PFA from contaminated water, but do not destroy them. Instead, they shift to secondary waste streams where PFA must be incinerated or landfilled – costly, inefficient, and increasingly restricted in Europe and beyond.
Destructive methods exist, but they remain unrealistic. Traditional methods such as incineration are expensive, inefficient, and cause new regulations headaches. Our solutions eliminate the need for expensive, dangerous waste transport, reduce long-term liability, and provide a complete and final resolution.
Pfasuiki changes this paradigm
Born from TDK, a globally recognized Japanese electronics company and now operates as an agile independent startup, Pfasuiki combines the best of the two worlds. The financial strength and depth of technology of industry leaders, flexibility and bold innovations in startups. Using decades of expertise in advanced materials and precision engineering, we have developed a destructive PFAS disruption platform based on three pillars.
New materials – designed for catalytic activity, selectivity and durability. Advanced Electrode Design – Adjusted to PFA’s breakdown efficiency, energy reduction and long system life. Smart Process Engineering – Adapts to multiple streams and is scalable from pilot to full-scale operation.
How Our Technology Works: Precision PFAS Destruction
Electrochemical oxidation is an established process in water treatment, but its effectiveness depends entirely on the electrode material and system configuration. Pfasuiki’s proprietary electrodes allow for both.
Direct Electron Transfer (DET): PFAS molecules interact directly with the electrode surface, allowing target binding cleavage. Indirect radical oxidation: The generated active species decomposes PFA and other organic pollutants, maximizing destruction efficiency.
This dual mechanism ensures efficient PFA destruction while minimizing energy input. The modular system is designed as follows:
Even complex matrices such as landfills achieve high destruction rates (>95%). From pilot deployment to full industrial deployment, we operate flexibly on a competitive energy consumption scale. It uses chemical additives and fully recyclable electrode materials to provide environmentally friendly performance.
From prototypes to actual impact
Case studies of landfill leachate
The city’s landfill leachate represents one of the most challenging PFA matrices due to high organic loads, salts and co-dyes. The Pfasuiki prototype, developed with TDK’s material science expertise, has already shown success.
Within 30-90 min, >=6C PFA (PFHPA, PFOA, PFHXS, PFOS) rapid decomposition. Despite high total carbon, 95% destruction rate
(>4.5 g/l). Possibility of short chain PFA removal in continuous optimization. Energy efficiency allows for cost-effective integration into treatment trains.
As treatment progresses, a change in the color of the sample occurs, indicating the removal of DOM (dissolved organic matter) in addition to disrupting the sample’s PFA.
These results demonstrate not only the technical feasibility but also the economic and environmental feasibility of our approach.
Why industry and local governments choose pfasuiki
Our EO systems are designed for versatility, scalability and ease of use. They can be deployed as standalone PFAS destructive units or seamlessly integrated into existing treatment trains. The key benefits are:
Versatile applications – from landfill leachate and industrial drainage to firefighting foam residues and ion exchange regeneration. Reducing Costs – Low energy consumption and long-term recyclable electrodes dramatically reduce operational costs. Ease of operation – Plug and play integration, quick electrode replacement, minimal maintenance. Environmental Responsibility – No chemical additives, fully recyclable electrodes, no support for the principles of a circular economy.
The Big Picture: Industry, Regulation, and ESG
The PFA does not disappear anytime soon. They are important for multiple industries, from healthcare to semiconductors and defense. Eliminating their use entirely means compromising the safety and performance of the product. However, preventing PFA from reaching the environment is both feasible and urgent.
Regulatory pressures are increasing, and Europe is tightening its options for incineration and disposal. Compliance costs are rising sharply, and dangerous PFAS waste disposal often exceeds 2,000-3,000 euros per tonne. Public scrutiny is increasing as municipalities, landfills and industries face litigation, reputational risks and ESG obligations.
PFASUIKI assists clients by enabling on-site PFA to destroy.
Minimizes hazardous waste transport. Reduce liability risks under EU waste shipping regulations. Shows active ESG leadership and public responsibility.
Collaboration and Partnership: Collaboration for the Future
The complexity of the PFAS task requires collective action. At Pfasuiki, we are actively involved with industry, academia and government partners to accelerate the destruction of PFA on a large scale.
Collaboration opportunities:
•Pilot Deployment – Tailored System Trial with Complete Data Collaboration.
Scale-up support – bridge the gap between prototypes and commercial rollouts. Research Partnership – Joint development of new materials, analysis, and systems integration. Regulation and Market Access – Navigate the Compliance Framework together. Consulting and Analysis – PFAS product testing, regulatory advisory, and stream characterization.
We offer solutions from diagnosis to disruption, not as a technology provider, but as a PFAS competency partner.
Startup Vision: Elimination of PFA, Empowerment Industry
Startups like Pfasuiki play a unique role in addressing environmental challenges. Agility, innovation and focus are combined with TDK resources in the parent’s office. Our vision is to go beyond the disruption of PFA and become a global capabilities hub for PFAS management, from analysis and regulatory consulting to pipe end-of-pipe disruption systems.

The forward path is clear. Capture and destroy the PFA before it enters the environment. Working with industry, regulators and investors, we aim to be the pioneer in sustainable, scalable, and cost-effective PFA disruption solutions that will shape a cleaner future.
