Mrbeast, a popular 27-year-old YouTuber known for his elaborate challenges and giveaways, is taking on new territory. He is reportedly starting his own telephone company.
Mrbeast is set to launch mobile phone services next year, according to Business Insider, which saw the leaked investor deck. Business Insider also reported that Mrbeast and Beast Industries executives are considering Fintech and mobile gaming.
The new plans for YouTubers include establishing Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), a strategy that involves providing mobile phone services using existing networks from major companies such as AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. By partnering with any of these operators, Mrbeast can provide affordable rates and excellent service without the high cost of building your own mobile network.
This is similar to the tactics that other celebrities, such as Ryan Reynolds and Mint Mobile, sold to T-Mobile for around $1.35 billion. T-Mobile offers MVNO solutions and previously collaborated with Mrbeast.
Future ventures are part of Mrbeast’s larger strategy to broaden his brand, including food company feasts and lunches, as well as a toy line. This new telephone company can help his business reach profitability. Mrbeast has a huge fan with around 430 million YouTube subscribers, but his media business is not a money maker.
Last year, Mrbeast’s side hustle Feastables generated approximately $250 million and more than $20 million in profits, according to Bloomberg. Meanwhile, his media business, including his YouTube channel and reality competition show on Prime Video, lost nearly $80 million.
