Openai CEO Sam Altman on Monday announced the launch of AgentKit, a toolkit for building and deploying AI agents at the company’s Dev Day event.
“AgentKit is a complete set of building blocks available on an open AI platform that helps you use agents from prototype to production. Everything you need to build, deploy and optimize your agent workflow with reduced friction,” says Altman.
The launch highlights Openai’s driving force in increasing developer recruitment by making it faster and easier to build agents. It also provides integrated tools to demonstrate competitive moves against other AI platform races and build autonomous agents for businesses that can perform complex tasks as well as prompts.
AgentKit was one of several announcements on Openai’s Dev Day. This includes launching the ability to build apps directly within ChatGPT, which has reached 800 million active users per week.
AgentKit includes several core features. Initially, an agent builder, and Altman explained it in the same way as agent camber.
“It’s a fast, visual way to design logic, steps and ideas,” says Altman. “It’s built on top of the response APIs already used by hundreds of thousands of developers.”
The second feature of AgentKit is Chatkit. It provides a simple, built-in chat interface that developers can use to bring chat experiences to their apps.
“You can do anything that makes your own product unique, whether it’s your own brand, your own workflow,” says Altman.
Agent Evals introduces tools to measure AI agents’ performance, including step-by-step tracing grading, datasets for evaluating individual agent components, automated rapid optimization, and the ability to directly perform external model evaluations from the OpenAI platform.
Finally, AgentKit includes access to Openai’s connector registry, allowing developers to securely connect agents to internal tools and third-party systems via the “admin panel” while maintaining security and control.
To prove how easy it is to use Openai Engineer Ageentkit, we built the entire AI workflow, with two AI agents living on stage within 8 minutes.
“This is everything we wanted when we were trying to build our first agent,” Altman said, noting that Openai has already signed several launch partners that are using AgentKit to expand their agents.
