Music streaming app SoundCloud is evolving into a more social platform with the introduction of new community-oriented features. The company on Thursday announced features such as playlists based on the tastes of your friends and the artists you follow, an automatic list of all the tracks your friends enjoy, and follow suggestions.
The feature is aimed at boosting social interactions on the platform as SoundCloud competes with music streaming giants like Spotify.
Spotify continues to make strides to become more social. We recently launched a direct message feature that allows users to share playlists and songs directly with friends.

Two of the most notable features launched by SoundCloud let you see what your friends and favorite artists are listening to. For example, “Songs Our Crew Likes” is a daily updated list of songs that your friends and favorite artists are enjoying. This appears on your homepage and shows you what’s popular among the users you follow.
Another feature is Playlist Likes, a scrollable carousel of hand-picked playlists from your friends and favorite artists.
Additionally, SoundCloud has a new trending track wall that shows you the popular tracks currently trending on the platform, as well as filters to help you find what’s important to you without having to sift through hundreds of playlists.
These features are now available on the web as well as on iOS and Android devices.

SoundCloud also launched two features exclusive to its mobile app, including a daily personalized track of “Hot for you” that’s trending on the platform, hand-picked to match your music tastes.
Another new mobile feature recommends people to follow, including fans with similar music tastes to you, people you may know in real life, and recommended artists. This appears as a carousel on your homepage and allows you to easily connect with other users on the platform.
