More than 350,000 companies across Europe are expected to improve their energy efficiency.

This year, the organizers of European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) are proud to introduce a new award category: the Small and Medium Enterprises Promoting Energy Efficiency Award.

This award aims to celebrate the creativity and impact of small and medium-sized enterprises that develop business or financing models that accelerate the adoption of energy efficiency solutions in the EU.

Through this award, EUUSEW aims to recognize small and medium-sized enterprises that are pioneering new approaches to making energy upgrades more accessible, affordable and scalable.

The perfect finalist will be an EU-defined SME that operates in at least one EU Member State, has pilot projects or commercially active initiatives, and is characterized by innovative aspects related to energy efficiency business or financing models.

The creation of this new award also marks a turning point for small and medium-sized enterprises in Europe. This year, the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group announced a €17.5 billion financing initiative dedicated to energy efficiency in small and medium-sized enterprises, one of the largest of its kind.

Thanks to this initiative, more than 350,000 companies across Europe are expected to improve their energy efficiency. The new program will nearly double current support from 2025 to 2027, helping small and medium-sized businesses reduce energy use and reduce emissions.

As part of this initiative, the EIB will work with private partners through a dedicated investment platform to support energy efficiency projects for small and medium-sized enterprises. This approach will also help attract more investors and bring additional capital into the European energy efficiency sector.

Collectively, these measures demonstrate the strong commitment of the EIB Group and the European Commission to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in the clean energy transition, increasing Europe’s competitiveness and supporting decarbonisation, based on the EU’s Clean Industries Pact and the Action Plan for Affordable Energy.

If you are interested in this award, please read the guidelines and apply now.
