Britney Spears just landed a new job thanks to celebrity stylist Chris Appleton, who shared a photo with Britney Spears on Instagram on Monday and praised her personality.
Appleton, known for his work with Kim Kardashian, posted a selfie of the pop icon posing with a curling iron in each hand and sticking out his tongue, writing in the caption about the surreal feeling of calling one of his childhood idols a client. “Britney Spears was the soundtrack to many moments during my childhood growing up in England,” he began.
“Never in a million years did I think I would see the day where I would be standing behind a chair (or in this case she would be standing behind me, haha) styling my hair,” the artist continued. “Some moments really come full circle. Not only is she an icon, she is one of the most genuinely kind and gentle souls I have ever met.”
In the photo Appleton shared, Spears doesn’t look like she’s changed much, but her hair looks straighter and shinier. She also appeared to be in good spirits in this photo, several months after being admitted to a treatment facility after being arrested on March 4 on suspicion of drunk driving in Ventura County, California. The hitmaker ultimately took a plea deal, accepting a lesser charge known as “reckless conduct,” which is less severe than a DUI charge, and was sentenced to one year of probation.
“She has taken significant steps to achieve positive change, which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney’s decision to reduce the charges and dismiss the DUI charge in this case,” her attorney said in a statement at the time. “Britney appreciates this discretion and is also grateful for the outpouring of support she has received.”
But in May, public concerns flared again after reports surfaced that Spears had engaged in erratic behavior with a knife at a restaurant, which her representatives quickly put a stop to. “She simply said her dog was barking at her neighbor,” a representative told Billboard in a statement. “She never put anyone in danger with a knife… This constant attack on everything she does is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to paint Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous and needs to stop now.”
