Ellie Goulding is preparing for her next era, announcing details of her sixth studio album ‘I Know Too Much’.
Scheduled to be released on September 4th via Polydor, this announcement was made at the same time as the confirmation of her new single ‘Black Prada Dress’ which will be released this Friday (June 5th). The tracklist for this record has not yet been announced.
The new song was first performed on Golding’s main stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Sunderland last month (May 23), and has been lined up for a TV appearance on BBC Two’s Later… with Jools Holland on June 7.
According to the Official Chart Company, ‘I Know Too Much’ is Goulding’s first full-length album since 2023’s ‘Higher Than Heaven,’ which debuted at number one on the UK Official Album Chart, making her the joint British female solo artist with the most number one albums in UK history, along with Adele.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic, the 39-year-old remains one of the most consistent modern British pop stars on the Billboard Hot 100. She has secured multiple chart entries throughout her career, including the No. 3 hit “Love Me Like You Do” and 2011’s “Lights,” which rose to No. 2, along with collaborations with Swae Lee, Juice WRLD, Diplo and Calvin Harris. And so on.
This next record comes amid growing momentum for Golding online. Breakout track “Starry Eyed” topped the TikTok Trending Audio chart earlier this year and resurfaced on the platform through trends spanning nostalgic fan edits and travel clips, resulting in renewed interest in streaming across her back catalogue.
Elsewhere at No. 1 in the UK, Higher Than Heaven produced one of Golding’s biggest hits, collaboration with Calvin Harris, ‘Miracle’, marking the pair’s third collaboration to date. The trance banger became her fourth UK No. 1 single, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance-Pop Recording, and was included in Billboard’s 30 Best Dance Songs of 2023 list.
