FIFA officially has Beaver fever.
World Cup governing body and action platform Global Citizen announced on July 8th that Justin Bieber will co-headline the World Cup Final halftime show to be held at New York/New Jersey Stadium on July 19th. He will support the FIFA Global Citizenship Education Fund and share the stage with Madonna, Shakira, and BTS.

The 11-minute show will also feature Burna Boy, Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel and Staten Island’s elementary school choir, the PS22 Chorus, who will perform with Coldplay. The show will also feature Sesame Street characters, including Kermit, Miss Piggy and other Muppets, as part of the broadcast’s education-focused message. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is supervising the performance.
“The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way that nothing else can,” Bieber said in a statement. “I am grateful to be a part of this halftime show, and even more grateful to know that it is already helping expand access to education for children around the world.”
The halftime show will be the first of its kind in FIFA World Cup history. Major soccer events often include opening ceremonies and pre-match performances, but FIFA will introduce a half-time performance for this year’s final.

The show supports the FIFA Global Citizenship Education Fund, which is raising $100 million to expand access to education and soccer for children around the world. According to Global Citizen, the fund has already raised more than $50 million. During the tournament, $1 from every ticket sold to a 2026 FIFA World Cup match will be donated to this fund.

Bieber’s addition expands a lineup that already included several major international artists. Madonna, Shakira and BTS were announced as the show’s headliners in May, but Burna Boy brought a new connection to the event with his official 2026 World Cup song, “Dai Dai,” featuring Shakira.
“The FIFA World Cup is one of the few moments when the whole world truly comes together,” Burna Boy said in a statement. “Representing Africa in the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show is an honor and a responsibility that cannot be taken lightly.”
The announcement was not widely accepted, especially among soccer fans who already felt this World Cup was “Americanized,” with the addition of brand-sponsored hydration breaks and the interruption of the regular rhythm of the game. To some, adding a Super Bowl-style performance in the middle of the New Jersey finals feels like another step in that direction.

The experiment is due to be tested for the first time next week, but FIFA hopes it won’t have to say “sorry”.
