Alanis Morissette’s ex-tour manager allegedly blackmailed singer: lawsuit

Alanis Morissette is accusing her former tour manager of a “calculated blackmail campaign” in a new lawsuit, Page Six can confirm.

On Tuesday, the singer filed a complaint alleging her “disgruntled” ex-employee Keren Urinov threatened to report her for drug trafficking, according to court docs.

Morissette claimed Urinov attempted to extort the Grammy winner into “employ[ing] her as a tour director for fifteen years and pay[ing] her massive compensation,” per the filing.

Morissette’s lawsuit stated she “will not be coerced into delivering her blackmailer an extraordinary payday” and is suing for civil extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation in order “to expose Urinov’s scheme and hold her accountable.”

She is seeking a jury trial and compensatory damages of over $75,000.

The “Jagged Little Pill” hitmaker, notably, hired Urinov to temporarily work on her world tour last year.

She alleged that in June 2025, Urinov’s bag was seized at the airport while flying to Spain for a concert for allegedly containing marijuana and xylazine, a non-opioid animal tranquilizer.

Upon Morissette and her team returning to the United Kingdom the next day, Urinov was subjected to further questioning by British Border Force and said the drugs “belonged to her.”

However, Morissette claimed Urinov and her attorney then “sent a series of increasingly extortionate letters” and threatened to “file a patently frivolous lawsuit against Morissette in the United Kingdom for unspecified claims if Morissette refused to tell British law enforcement that the alleged drugs were hers.”

Per the court docs, Morissette was told she could put an “end to the matter” by meeting Urinov’s demands.

Urinov allegedly asked to be hired full-time for 15 years with a salary “equivalent to that of a tour director with annual increases and bonuses.”

Morissette wrote in her filing that she denied this “not only because [Urinov] is a blackmailer, but also because she was a terrible manager of the 2025 tour.”

She claimed Urinov once made a hotel booking error that set Morissette back “nearly $70,000.”

Urinov took legal action against Morissette 13 days before the songwriter’s filing, per Entertainment Weekly, but it is unclear what allegations she is making.

According to the outlet, she filed a claim against Morissette in London’s King Bench Division, which handles cases of defamation, misuse of private information, data protection and harassment by publication.

In a statement to Page Six, Urinov’s attorney, Mark Lewis of Patron Law, said: “Keren Urinov is only aware that defensive proceedings in the US have been issued against her from contacts by the media. No proceedings have been served on her nor ever threatened.”

Lewis said his client “totally rejects any allegation of blackmail.”

“Rather than being paid off, Ms Urinov has sought to have her name cleared and will adduce the evidence that shows the truth about Ms Morissette’s actions. Ms Urinov has no issue with the trial judge determining the truth,” he told us.

“We are content to let the Court determine what happened rather than trying to concoct a false narrative. Once the thread is unraveled the cover-up will disappear and the attempt to blame someone else will evaporate.”
