Zero click WHATSAPP spyware attack

Friday’s Meta -owned Whatsapp stated that it has confused the campaign, including the use of spyware to target journalists and civil society members.

The campaign for about 90 members included the use of spyware from a company in Israel, known as a paragon solution. The attacker was neutralized in December 2024.

In a statement to the Guardian, the encrypted messaging app has reached out to the affected users, and the user is targeted and says, “Probably a compromise.” I mentioned. It is unknown who is behind the campaign and how long it was.

Cyber security

It is said that the attack chain is a zero click. In other words, the development of spyware occurs without the need for user interaction. It is suspected that it will be distributed to the specially created PDF file sent to the individual added to the WhatsApp group chat.

The company also announced that he had sent a letter to the paragon for “stop and abolition” and that he was considering other options. This development is marked when the company is first linked when the technology is misused.

Like NSO Group, Paragon is a manufacturer of a monitoring software called Graphite, provided by government clients to fight digital threats. In December, it was acquired by the US -based investment group AE industrial partner with a $ 500 million transaction.

On the Barebones website, the company provides customers to “confuse the threat of intractable” to customers, and “provide cyber and forensic functions to find and analyze digital data. I claim that it provides that.

In late 2022, Graphite revealed that the US Pharmaceutical Executive Office (DEA) used it for advisory operations. Last year, the Democratic Technology Center (CDT) asked the Ministry of Land Security to disclose the $ 2 million contract with Paragon.

Cyber security

The campaign news uses the infrastructure in May 2019 to provide Pegasus spyware to 1,400 devices in May 2019, so the whaspiece support for the NSO Group has been ruled for a weekly support. Later.

The disclosure of the meta agreed with the arrest of Poland’s former Judge Zbigniew Ziobrobrobrobrobrobrobrobrobrobrobrobrobroburo in Polish, approved the use of Pegasus spyware, monitored opposition leaders, and supervised the case in which technology was used.
