Masayoshi Son of SoftBank CEO has launched a joint venture in Japan in partnership with Openai’s Sam Altman. The initiative named SB Openai Japan announced on Monday offers AI services to corporate clients. This is a report that last week’s SoftBank has been discussed to invest up to $ 25 billion in Openai.

According to a recent report from Reuters, SB Openai Japan will be jointly owned by Openai and newly established companies under SoftBank and their communication department. In addition, SoftBank agrees to pay $ 3 billion per year to integrate Openai technology throughout various businesses.

“On Monday, the son of CEO’s Masayoshi told Sam Altman of Openai CEO that he agreed to establish a joint venture in Japan to provide artificial intelligence services to corporate customers. SB OPENAI, a joint venture. JAPAN is owned by Openai, SoftBank and a company established by its domestic communication department, “said Reuters.

My son doesn’t stop there. In cooperation with Openai and Oracle, SoftBank also has $ 15 billion in Stargate, a US -based AI project. The initiative, announced last month, returned his son to a spotlight with the former President Donald Trump.

On the other hand, competition with AI is intensifying. DeepSeek in China seems to be consistent with what a major US company has developed, so there are investors who question whether pouring billions to AI is wise.

“The world only needs a lot of calculations,” Altman said.

For his son, the partnership has shown a return to aggressive investment after the recession of SoftBank’s High Tech Holdings and the period of a series of famous failures. He has a track record of formulating a partnership with US high -tech companies, such as trading that brought the iPhone to Japan in 2008.

On Monday, his son and Altman met the Japanese Prime Minister Isbauba and emphasized the importance of the venture.

In another development, Altman told Japanese reporters that Openai is working on a dedicated AI device for exchanging smartphones. Talking to Japan’s Nihon Kizai Simbun, he suggested a potential collaboration with former Apple’s design chief, Jony Ive, and realized the concept.
